I read about the old Doomster hill that has been pin pointed in Govan as the Political or justice center(or both)for Strathclyde.
Apparently the capital city or village was on Dumbarton rock as this controlled the Clyde estuary. But the royal residence was at Partick and the royal stores and political center was across the water in Govan. It is a shame that this man made mound was destroyed by builders in the 19th century to build a bleach works as the hill probably some invaluable archeology in the hill. As it was man made it might even have had offerings of some kind within it.
It dates to before Christianity came to this country so might have been built at the time of the druids so might have some information in it that can not be found anywhere else. As far as i know there is no other man made hills with as much cultural significance as Doomster hill and it is a pity that nothing remains of the site for future generations to excavate.
