The Kraken has helped to shape the water, it's glassy surface and the gliding monsters beneath. Legends from Iceland, Norway, Scandinavia, France, Germany, Caribbean, Peru the Americas and many many other places in our world have reported similar if not the same story repeatedly starting around the 1830's and till today these stories have never died.

I am intrigued by what you wrote. I have only heard of bits and pieces of this legend, now I understand the real myth. You mention that the largest squid to date was fifty-nine feet...that is huge! Where was this squid found? Was it found dead or alive.
I am currently studying archeology, but have yet to specialize in a field. Your article has definitely given me some thought! Thanks.
