Hello, If anyone is interested in the archaeology of the Black Sea littoral, there is a joint Anglo-Georgian Expedition to a town called Nokalakevi in Western Georgia. The archaeology is fascinating - set into the loop of a river, a 20 hectare site became home to a heavily fortified administrative centre which controlled the trade route and passage through the Caucasus; it has a rich history of Greek and Roman occupation with the possibility of it reaching back to the 8th and possibly 12th century BC with the discovery of cult bull figurines. To find out more, please visit this important project at www.nokalakevi.org You are welcome to browse through and if you know friends, students or colleagues who would find it interesting, please pass on our site address. Thanks, Ben Neil.
