I'm looking into the best way of creating a resource handler that will allow people on the portal to search for archaeological features or structues in the UK. It has to be map-based and therefore dynamic from datasets. It must integrate with ASP.NET and SQL Server 2000. Does anyone have any experience of using any software for this? Since I doubt my host would consider any kind of mapping server controls being put on my application server, it would need to operate as ASP.NET controls. This to me would be a hugely exciting project and one which would start to push the boundaries for non-profit archaeology on the www. I'd be very interested to hear from anyone who could help me out with this, or someone who's as keen as me to help code/produce it. Steve White

Steve, have you considered using Manifold GIS (http://www.manifold.net/products/mfd50pro/mfd50pro_home.html)?. This GIS package is inexpensive (US$245.00) and comes with a built-in Internet Map Server which automatically provides templates for both ASP and ASP.NET. Cheers, Kevin

Thanks a lot Kevin, never heard of them before. I'll take a look and see if it will do the job. Steve White
