This has been brought to my attention by Tim Sutherland through CAIRN:
"The site is in La Boiselle, near Albert in the Somme part of Northern France. It is close to a very large crater produced by sappers tunnelling under the German lines in WW1. The landowners are hoping to set up a tea shop in the not too distant future attracting the tour buses who visit the crater on a daily basis. This is possibly a prime site for a training excavation looking at WW2 warfare, and though not a huge plot of land would supply enough sq m area for a small number of trainees in the summer months. It would also provide ample space and opportunity to experiment with new technology and techniques, particularly non-intrusive survey as well as small scale intrusive survey. This would appeal greatly to passing tour buses and as an added benefit potentially attract more people to the tea shop and give students an opportunity to experiment in ways to present and express their findings to the public.
The site owner works at the museum in Albert-which is dedicated to representing and recreating the conditions and lives of soldiers in the trenches during WW1 and telling visitors about the battle of the Somme in particular. There may also be further possibilities/opportunities/student projects at the museum-presentation and conservation of WW1 objects and Memorabilia"
