I received a letter from the club treasurer this morning reporting that Peter Cobb, the club chairman, had died. No more details, but I know Peter didn't keep in the best of health. Peter was the club to a great extent, since he single-handedly edited, contributed and published the magazine Aldis. He was also untiring in his study of fortifications, and promotion of the club. I learnt an immeasurable amount of knowledge on WW2 structures from Peter, and counted him as a friend. He is survived by his wife, son and daughter, and will be sadly missed by all who ever knew him. Regards,Gordon http://freewebs.com/thehistoryvault/

Dear Gordon, please let me know details of funeral arrangements or contacts as I want to send my condolenses. I have only made Peters aquaintance recently, but found him a genourous and fascinating man. I have recently setup a preservation society to fight the sale of Shorncliffe Redoubt and Peter was a great supporter. His enthusiasm helped me through the dark weeks when we thought we had lost the fight and his encouragement spurred me on. I am pleased to say we are winning and even now CH4 are planning to film down there. Please send my condolenses to his family and if donations are being made, please let me know. Kind regards Chris Shaw Chairman Shorncliffe Redoubt Preservation Society
