| According to Prof.Dr. Ekrem Akurgal, famous Turkish scholar, the period between 1200-700 B.C. was defined as dark period for west Anotolian civilizations, about 60 years ago. His hypothesis was based on the fact, which might be valid for 1950s, that there was no finding from the excavations, which belongs to this period. According to him, it was possible to find remainings dated after 700 B.C. to periods when the region had experienced an extensive Hellenistic influence. In 50 years, upon new finds and new thesis by his successors, the thought has changed on the contrary that Anatolia had influenced Greeks indeed. For example, Prof.Dr.F.Isik has received contribution of the majority of the other scholars to this assesment during a congress in Koln Archaeolgy Institute recently. If so, and frequency of the findings that belong to this period is so low, then what happened to artifacts to be found logically? |
