Hello everyone. I’m wondering if someone can help me. There is an area of land with a small warehouse on it in the town where I live and the owners have put in planning application to develop the site, including the construction of a new warehouse and offices. The thing is, I’ve had a look at their planning application and they’ve mentioned that the site used to be the site of an old Roman Baths. Does anyone know who/where I should contact regarding this so that a thorough inspection of the site can be made prior to any construction works? I know the place certainly hasn’t been inspected in the past 5-10 years. It’d be a shame for someone to go in with construction equipment and rip out anything of interest that was still remaining below the surface. Is there a UK archaeology society or something that could help? Thanks guys, Dave

Dave, you could alert your local Sites & Monuments Officer to bring it to their attention. Steve White
