hi im a 2nd year fine art student working on an art piece about archaeology and excavation. i was just wondering if anyone could help me with some basic questions i have about how things are documented. -how is information found recorded? and how are sites blocked off? if anyone can help me that would be cool thank u

Hi ailbhe - That is quite some question. For very top-level basic info. try http://www2002.stoke.gov.uk/museums/pmag/Nof_website1/local_history_static_exhibitions/arch_tech/pages/what_is_arch.htm Recording information is the most important aspect of archaeology. I’m tempted to provide more detail here but it is such a big subject that I could end up writing a book. I might be able to help more if you are a bit more specific about what you think is to be recorded. Also I do not understand what you mean by how sites are ‘blocked off’.
