The Festival of History
Sat 11 & Sun 12 August 2007 (9.30am – 6pm)
Kelmarsh Hall, Northamptonshire
Explore over 2,000 years of history - from the Roman Empire to the Swinging Sixties in this action-packed blockbuster event. With more than 50 different shows each day, including a World War I fly-past, battle spectaculars, celebrity lectures, hand-on activities for children, jousts, falconry, music and dance, you are sure to find something of interest!
Meet the men of the Royal Flying Corps and witness the drama of a remarkable recreated scene from the Great War as British pilots take to the skies in front of your very eyes and perform perilous manoeuvres. New for 2007 – experience the sites and sounds of life in the trenches and hear tales of the triumphs and tragedies of the men who worked there, as you explore our re-created World War I trench.
For younger visitors there are plenty of hands-on activities, guaranteed to keep them entertained for hours… With storytelling, medical demonstrations, jesting and puppet shows, or for those that wish to learn a new skill, they can try morris dancing, Roman drills, medieval rock and roll and even practice making a fool of themselves in jesting workshops!
