This is run by the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland, and should be well worth attending.

Scotland in Later Prehistoric Europe

This is the latest in a series of major conferences, organised by the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland, which aims to synthesise and review our knowledge of the later prehistory of Scotland c. 1500 BC to AD 500, setting it in its broader European context. Some twenty international and local speakers will tackle wide-ranging topics under a number of themes:

• The people and the period
• The changing societies of later prehistoric northern Europe
• Landscape and settlements
• Artefacts, beliefs and society

Confirmed speakers include Ian Armit, Thomas Clancy, Michael Erdrich, Colin Haselgrove, Flemming Kaul, Vincent Megaw, Pierre-Yves Milcent, Stuart Needham, Patrick Sims-Williams, Richard Tipping and Eugène Warembol. Sir Barry Cunliffe will give the keynote address.

The conference will be held over the weekend of the 19th to the 21st September 2008, in Edinburgh.  To receive details please contact the Society.  Further details will be posted on the Society website www.socantscot.org/
