Roman Road Excavations by the NEHHAS-FAB will occur over the August Bank Holiday 2011 (Cheriton) and during the weekends of 17th and 24 of September (Roe Down Farm).

These will continue the work on the Winchester Roman Road towards London.

Experience and Novice excavators welcome.

There is a training course available during these digs.  This includes exercises in the layout of trenches, planning of features, section drawings, levelling and geophysics.  Information of some of the advanced techniques being used to detect this Road will be given, with some exercises.  Dig and training costs £66.  Digs only £10 for the season.   Publications on this and other Roman Roads will be available.  Camps site and accommodation leads given.  Certification is available if required and risk assessment of the sites are carried out.

Booking can be for any number of days, including one.  Minimum unaccompanied age is 16, but younger children with an adult welcome.

For further details please contact Dr Richard Whaley at email address richard@whaley.me.uk or visit our website www.businesstrendslibrary.co.uk/dig.htm or join our facebook page.
