dept. of museums and antiquities malaysia have been collaborated with dept. of sabah museum and university of malaysia sabah on a excavation project in tg. simpang mengayau kudat sabah. a thousand year old wreck been found with song dynasty celedons and others. the works strats when a private company (commercial salvage) found the wreck and gave the information to the state ministry through federal ministry. the depth of the wreck just 15 meters of waters and just 800 meters from shore. however the work still in planned for 3rd phase. up from the 2nd works not much of the ship hull in view...well, kudat is well known for its strong wind, big waves and current it is hard to do the works. we manage to do a 10 meters plotting mark from north-east-south and west. most of the srtifacts concentrated on the east northeast and southeast. pictures will post soon. thanks sherman
