The alignments at Stonehenge of summer Solstice sunrise, and winter Solstice sunset are well known.
Additional alignments have now been discovered, including:
Summer Solstice sunset, winter Solstice sunrise, Equinox sunrise and sunset, and moon rise and set at the major and minor standstills.
These alignments only use the Sarsen stones (circle and Trilithons).
The conclusion that I draw is that Stonehenge was indeed an astronomical observatory.
