The alignments at Stonehenge of summer Solstice sunrise, and winter Solstice sunset are well known. Additional alignments have now been discovered, including: Summer Solstice sunset, winter Solstice sunrise, Equinox sunrise and sunset, and moon rise and set at the major and minor standstills. These alignments only use the Sarsen stones (circle and Trilithons). The conclusion that I draw is that Stonehenge was indeed an astronomical observatory. Further details are on my website: www.brontovox.co.uk

Just to clarify: This is a new theory as far as I am aware. Earlier theories (by Hawkins etc) have been rejected by mainstream archaeology as either too complex or statistically unsound. This theory shows how the use of the structure was beautifully uncomplicated in principle, but implemented in a remarkably efficient way. www.brontovox.co.uk
