so are we going round in circles, when I trained as an archaeologist processualism was dead, evil, the past etc... since taking a GIS course I see that processual techniques can add insight to post processual theories, some of which seem very flimmsey and more like an imperical pre-processual romantic fantasy with no obvious scientific background just academic rhetoric - are we going in circles? or should we use all three where appropiate irrlevant of which is in fashion? Also GIS provides a tool for analysing environmental determinism a train of though which is shunned by many non evolutionary archaeologists as it is a responce to environment and has a lack of 'humanity' your thoughts?
