This course will help you to understand how your current skills can help you break into the field of Egyptian archaeology. Are you a student wondering what path you should take to get into Egyptology? This course will help you to plot your educational and career goals. Glyphdoctors is running an online course "Introduction to Egyptology" from Feb. 1 to March 28 that just might lead you to a future on the banks of the Nile or the Egyptian desert. Here is a summary of the course: Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be an Egyptologist? This interactive course will give you an insider's overview of this exciting field. You will learn the history, current issues and controversies, and future prospects of the various branches of Egyptology - archaeology, language, art history, religion and history. The relationship between Egyptology and other fields - like Classics, Biblical and African studies, and Anthropology - will also be explored. You will get the inside scoop on the cutting edge research tools and techniques used by Egyptologists, and where to find the best sources of information about ancient Egypt both online and offline. You will read profiles of individuals working in Egyptology today and learn how they got into the field. If you want to find work on an archaeological dig or in a museum, this course will give you the information you need to get started in the field of Egyptology, either as a part-time volunteer or as a career.
