I am trying out Map Maker at the moment and it seems to be relatively easy to use. However when the trial runs out I would need to pay £200 to keep the more advanced features. If I were 100% certain it would do all I ever want to do with my site data I might just decide to pay out. However it is a lot of money and I would like to know if there are any others using Map Maker for archaeology and what do they think of it. I would also like to hear from any 'free' GRASS users. Someone has already told me that compairing Map Maker to GRASS is like comparing a lawn mower to a Ferrari.

If you ever feel the need to write a review of any GIS techologies I'd appreciate it if you could let me have a copy for the portal. I want to build up a resource of reviews so people can share experiences and give pointers to how things work etc. cheers, Steve White
