Another Atlantic Wall mock up used to train for D-Day has been discovered near the village of Sudbourne in Suffolk. The 79th Armoured Division (Hobart's Funnies) were in the area and honed the various new types of armoured vehicles designed to breach the real wall- the Churchill Crocodile flamethrower, petard etc. The wall appears to be well overgrown, but to stand to a height over 2 metres. Photos are indistinct as yet, but a local history group plans to excavate some of it. |
