The West Yorkshire Archaeology Advisory Service are seeking an Assistant Historic Environment Record Officer to work at their Wakefield offices. The successful applicant will be expected to assist in the maintenance and enhancement of, and the provision of access to, the West Yorkshire Historic Environment Record (HER). Their primary role will be the accessioning and formation of both computer-based and paper-based records. They will also be expected to respond to HER enquiries from the public and from archaeological professionals, and to help promote the work of the Service and the HER.
Applicants will ideally have previous experience of SMR / HER work, need good communication skills, a good attention to detail and a punctilious approach to accuracy combined with flexibility. You should be qualified to degree level in a relevant subject, have a good general knowledge of English archaeology and be computer literate, preferably with GIS experience. This is a new, established post.
