Job News Colchester Borough Council _________________________________ STREET AND LEISURE SERVICES UAD/Monument Management Officer 3 year fixed term contract Salary range £16,631 to £19,560 Post Reference: LM27 Colchester Museums are seeking a UAD/Monument Management Officer, initially until the end of March 2009, but with the prospect of extension. The post will be based within the museum's archaeological team which provides a comprehensive range of services at district level including planning advice, monument management, museum object curation and the maintenance of the Urban Archaeological Database for Colchester Borough. The Urban Archaeological Database was created between 1999 and 2001 with grant-aid from English Heritage. It currently includes 957 monuments and 3,825 events. You will be responsible for the further development and maintenance of the Colchester UAD and assist with the provision of information for planning, research and public access purposes. You will also assist in the management of archaeological sites and monuments in Colchester district. You should have a degree in Archaeology, at least three years professional archaeology experience and an understanding of computerised GIS-based SMR systems (preferably ExeGesis, MS Access and MapInfo).
