Hi, great job! I noticed though that there are some problems in resizing the select box in a map when using firefox. E.g.: try http://www.online-archaeology.co.uk/GoogleMap/ with firefox, click on the image that draws the box and try making the box smaller: the box will go kind of crazy... I also noticed that the javascript code this is based on and found at http://cross-browser.com/x/examples/drag2.php, actually works correctly there, even with firefox. Just thought this could be useful ... Thanks Fabio Fabio

No worries, we're all pretty busy :-) I tried the control you suggested and it doesn't do the funny things that the other control does on firefox. However, with this control you cannot freely modify the (x,y) dimensions. It appears that x and y increase and decrease together, no matter how you draw the box (e.g.: if you move the mouse along the y axis only, x will still increase/decrease of the same amount x does) Fabio

Welcome to the forums fabio - I know about that one but thanks for the reminder. I'm a bit swamped with stuff at the moment but I plan to ditch a lot of js files and completely rewrite a lot of the js. I'm going to try and do it without any resizable div, just do a straight click and drag on top of the map object. Are you a programmer? Steve White

Hi, I'm indeed a programmer. I actually used your javascript code to integrate it into the repository of data and information at the national oceanography centre in Southampton, that I manage. But don't worry: I credited your work!!! If it's not too complicated (and if you could direct me to where the problem might be) I suppose I could try hacking the code myself and let you know how it goes... Fabio Fabio

Damn I knew I should have used an obfuscator ;) Is the resource online? I've actually replaced the draggable div in another app just not got round to doing this one. I may run into problems though because the map is relatively sized in this map but not the new one. I'm doing a lot of WMS experiments with Google Maps if you're interested in pooling resources. The repository is at: www.noc.soton.ac.uk/meta (login with username/password: nocsguest/nocsguest). I am interested in doing some work on gis stuff (though, as happens, I have many other things to do as well...). Fabio Fabio

Fabio - Sorry it's taken ages to back to you. You might want to upgrade to this for your zoomer: http://earthcode.com/blog/2006/07/gzoom.html Haven't used it on OA yet but plan to in the near future. Steve White
