Bakery found in Egyptian desert
25 August 2010 During excavation work for the Theban Desert Road Survey, a project to map the ancient desert routes in the Western desert, a team of Egyptian and US archaeologists from Yale University stumbled upon the remains of what appears to be an ancient bakery town.
About 1 km (0.6 miles) long from north to south and 250 meters (820 feet) wide from east to west, the settlement dates to the Second Intermediate Period (about 1650-1550 B.C.). Umm Mawagir, as the city is now known, flourished in the Western Desert from 1650 to 1550 BCE.

Danevirke Gateway uncovered near Schleswig, Germany
27 August 2010 Archaeologists excavating a section of the Danevirke have discovered the only gate leading through the Danevirke, a five-meter (16 feet) wide portal. According to old writings, "horsemen and carts" used to stream through the gate, called "Wiglesdor." Next to it was a customs station and an inn that included a bordello.

Roman Industrial site found in Yorkshire, England
25 August 2010 Archaeologists have discovered a Roman industrial estate near ruins which may once have been home to a lost legion.
The site has been excavated as part of a £318 million scheme to upgrade the A1 in North Yorkshire.
It is close to a fort at Healam Bridge, which might have been used by the Ninth Hispanic Legion, which disappeared some time in the 2nd Century AD.

England's Lullingstone Roman Villa revealed as home of Emperor Pertinax
19 August 2010 Oxford University archaeologist Martin Henig and German archaeologist Richard de Kind, have discovered that that the fine villa at Lullingston, Kent, England, may once have belonged to Pertinax, later to become Emperor in 192AD following the murder of Commodus. A key clue is the discovery of a seal with his personal emblem:
